Finalizing Site Work

As the site nears completion, we are cleaning up any signs of a construction site. This stockpile on Outparcel A is being hauled offsite.

We are installing fabric and the pipe under drain system for the Bio retention pond.

Concrete footers are being poured for storm pipe boxes on the Cox Road widening.

Moving Forward with Paving, Stream Work and Vertical Construction

Aggregate base along the Spine Road was started last week and will be completed this week.

The wetland plantings in the floodplain area are being finished, helping create new wetlands/storm water storage. The new stream bed has been shaped as it meanders along the 2,600’ of previous creek that has been rehabilitated in the process.

Most of the landscaping is complete and the final lift of asphalt is being laid this week.

 

As Site Progresses, Environmental Work Is A Priority

Our team is installing Enkamat, a permanent reinforcement matting along the slopes adjacent to the stream channel. In this part of the Green Amor System, the matting is anchored at the top and bottom of the slope with an anchor trench and staples.

We are installing curb and gutter on Spine Road. The roadway is being fine graded in preparation for the aggregate base.

We have planted trees in the islands of the parking lot. These areas have been raked in preparation for sod.

Inside the anchor store, we are more than half way finished installing the signs and fixtures.

Our team made great progress in the pharmacy, which is now fitted with shelving.

Retention Pond, Steam Relocation and Indoor Fixturing Move Ahead

We have begun excavation for the bio retention pond. This landscaping feature will be adapted to treat stormwater runoff on the site.

Along Jett Lanier Drive, our team is working to complete retaining walls.

We are progressing with stream relocation.  The channel has been completed in this section, and pools are being excavated in the flood plain area.

Outside the retail store, trees we have planted trees. Grates will be installed around the base to enhance the look and to keep them from getting damaged.

The  stock room area is almost complete, and we have also made great progress with fixturing.

Retaining Walls Progress While Interiors Get Finishing Touches

Major segmental walls and tiered gabion basket walls are complete on the site. There are two small segmental walls remaining on the Jett Lanier Drive that ties to the Spine Road which should be getting started in the next couple of weeks.

The soil nail wall is nearing completion. The section of the soil nail wall tying to the gabion basket wall has the upper 5 feet prepped and ready for the shot-crete application.

Lots is happening in the parking area. Concrete sidewalks are being formed and poured. The irrigation system is being installed in islands to prep  for landscaping. Curb and gutter has been completed.

Inside, the vinyl composite tile (VCT) flooring and the carpet have been installed on the sales floor and the office. Both are perfect for high traffic areas.

The Starbuck’s area is taking on a whole new look. Cabinets are in place and the equipment is being installed. Glass counters will finish the space.

The frozen foods section of the store is nearing completion. Our team has placed coolers and freezers throughout the space.

 

Gastonia Redevelopment Moving Toward Completion.

We  are using quick lime to dry the onsite material to make it more compact.

With the exception of 50 trees to be planted along the creek banks, all the planting within the flood plain of the offsite stream has been installed.

We  have finished up to the ½ way mark of the soil nail wall.  Here our team is getting ready to start blowing shotcrete on the wire mesh.

We  have topped out the block in this area and will install the cap block to finish out. They have roughly 150sf of wall left to complete.

The staging area has been graded and the stone placed. This area will be covered with stone and asphalt binder.

Inside, Kydex and paint is going on the walls. The drinking fountain has been installed.

Final touches to the cart corral area are completed and now ready for floor grid.

All the hardware for the exterior doors is installed and secure.

Gaston Town Center Is Taking Final Shape

 

With the storefront complete, work on the parking lot is in full swing.

Signage is ready to welcome customers.

Inside, aesthetics are coming together. Ceiling tile is installed to the front of the store, with offices on tap for next week.

Painters are taking care of the gas lines, which will finish off the roof.

Excavation is taking place for the new wetlands area along the creek.

All the signs, glass and store front has come together and is complete, with the exception of the feature wall. Sidewalk will be complete soon.

 

Ceramic tile installation

Inside at the food service area, the ceramic tile is almost complete. The projects are beginning to come together and we are seeing more definition due to the completed work.

As mentioned previously, the food service areas are getting more defined by the finishing touches such as the ceramic tile shown above.

 

Cooler & Freezer area

In addition to the front food service areas, the areas behind-the-scenes, such as the cooler and freezers, also had tile installed.

Glass has been installed in the office areas up front. The sheetrock and mud are almost complete and will be ready for the painters soon.

 

Pole relocation process

Steady work continues on the offsite roadway improvements. Electric crews have almost completed the transfer to the new pole locations.

Crews have been placing fill on the west side of the steel arches to build the future roadway up. There is still another 8’-10’ of fill to go in here.

 

Retaining Wall

Wall crews continue to progress with the segmental portion of the retaining wall. They have installed nearly 1,000 sf of block in the past 3 days.

Gastonia Channels Forward

New channel staked

The channel defining process began with the crews staking out the new channel and started to install the rock vain on the downstream side of the arches.

Rock vein is installed and the crew is working on the riffle section going under the arch. There will be 13 of these structures to be installed in the new channel.

 

Curb crews pouring concrete

Over 2,000 linear feet of concrete curbs was poured by the Curb crews. There is around 800 linear feet left to pour in the parking lot and will be finished next week.

Fine grade crews are working to get parking lot grades cut and stone placed. This is the main drive on the east side of the parking lot.

The Storefront is coming along nicely. Glass is being installed, as well as some of the sidewalk signs.

We are finishing up our sidewalk prep work with lights, tree grates and bollard sleeves.

We have also started our tile installation. Once all the pieces have been cut out for columns and sprinklers the tile will go up fast.

In the Food Ave area sheet rock is up, mud is being applied and paint will soon follow.
