Grading Work Progresses

The fixture contractor began assembling the shelf units in the back stockroom. They are moving quickly and have also started in the receiving area.

We are progressing in the front of the store by installing wrap stands and cash registers. Electricians are finishing out the neon lights on the exterior of the building and benches have been placed.

We have completed the asphalt binder in the parking lot and in front of the building. Sidewalks are finished.

Our team has completed the soil nail wall. We rough graded the flood plain area in preparation for the stream work to begin on the upper side of the bridge.

Stream work continues. Below the bridge, we have grassed and mulched. The slope adjacent to the roadway and stream is being final graded.

Hardscapes and Stream Restoration Continue

The soil nail wall should be completed this week. The slopes above the soil nail walls have been grassed and are starting to establish a good stand of grass.

The bollards for the handicap signs have been installed in preparation for the remainder of the concrete sidewalk to be formed and poured.The stream work is ongoing. In this section, the new channels have been graded and temporarily stabilized prior to the stream being diverted to the final location.

Retaining Walls Progress While Interiors Get Finishing Touches

Major segmental walls and tiered gabion basket walls are complete on the site. There are two small segmental walls remaining on the Jett Lanier Drive that ties to the Spine Road which should be getting started in the next couple of weeks.

The soil nail wall is nearing completion. The section of the soil nail wall tying to the gabion basket wall has the upper 5 feet prepped and ready for the shot-crete application.

Lots is happening in the parking area. Concrete sidewalks are being formed and poured. The irrigation system is being installed in islands to prep  for landscaping. Curb and gutter has been completed.

Inside, the vinyl composite tile (VCT) flooring and the carpet have been installed on the sales floor and the office. Both are perfect for high traffic areas.

The Starbuck’s area is taking on a whole new look. Cabinets are in place and the equipment is being installed. Glass counters will finish the space.

The frozen foods section of the store is nearing completion. Our team has placed coolers and freezers throughout the space.

 

Structure and Aesthetics Coming Along, Inside and Out

We are continuing to work on the soil nail wall installation. Here, we’ve drilled and installed the soil nails in preparation for the wire reinforcement mesh and the shotcrete application.

We are completing  the aggregate base stone in the parking lot and prepping for the remaining curb and gutter. Plans are to have the remaining parking area covered with asphalt binder by the end of this week.

We continue to place fill in the Spine Road in preparation for the installation of the sanitary sewer and dry pipe systems.

Inside Target, the VCT flooring and red stripes are being installed. Carpet will follow.

The restrooms have partitions, and hand dryers and soap dispensers are next.

Marmoleum is going up on the walls in Guest Service, VCT to follow.

 

Gastonia Redevelopment Moving Toward Completion.

We  are using quick lime to dry the onsite material to make it more compact.

With the exception of 50 trees to be planted along the creek banks, all the planting within the flood plain of the offsite stream has been installed.

We  have finished up to the ½ way mark of the soil nail wall.  Here our team is getting ready to start blowing shotcrete on the wire mesh.

We  have topped out the block in this area and will install the cap block to finish out. They have roughly 150sf of wall left to complete.

The staging area has been graded and the stone placed. This area will be covered with stone and asphalt binder.

Inside, Kydex and paint is going on the walls. The drinking fountain has been installed.

Final touches to the cart corral area are completed and now ready for floor grid.

All the hardware for the exterior doors is installed and secure.

Progress On All Fronts

Crews started the soil nail wall this week. This is the first part of the wall, and provides structure for the concrete that will be poured later.

Crews continue to cover subgrade with stone.

The off-site mitigation work is looking good. All the grading is complete with 75% of the small plantings in place. The larger plantings will be done next week.

Crews started the demolition of the concrete median for the offsite roadway improvements.  The crew will have to work closely with the NCDOT and the resurface contract, to be completed at the same time.
